The Owner and Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter, Steven Pasmen has been learning the trades for over 28 years while gaining experience in many areas of the construction industry.
First working as a labourer and then apprentice, Steven’s love of construction and knowledge was passed down from his father Eddie Pasmen, himself a carpenter for 50 plus years.
After completing high school in Kamloops, Steven earned a post-secondary degree in Environmental Studies from Concordia University in Montréal. While putting himself through university working as a construction worker Steven was able to learn the carpentry trade and a lot of the pitfalls associated with completing a successful construction project. He earned his journeyman carpentry Red Seal Certification through the Industry Training Authority at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia and has since completed several of the Canadian Construction Association’s Gold Seal Certified courses for project management.
Pasmen Construction Ltd. is fully licensed and insured and remains in good standing with Work Safe BC.

We regularly do projects within about a 100 km radius from Kamloops, British Columbia. Our service area includes Sun Peaks and Clearwater, to the Shuswap, Merritt and Vernon. We have also completed select projects as far away as Calgary, Alberta, and the East Kootenays Region of British Columbia.
Process, Estimates, Planning, Selection, Execution and Follow up
- Contact
After providing us with your contact information a file will be started for you as a potential customer. In order to save time, we will first speak with you over the phone or via email conversations to discuss your needs, the scope of the project, a rough budget, important dates, and answer most of the initial questions you may have. At this stage it is most important to listen to our clients and understand their motivations for wanting the project completed.
- Design Agreement
If needed we will sign a design agreement and coordinate with a designer to create a plan that considers your style, reasons for renovating, family lifestyle, and existing house design. Working together we can evaluate these plans, use creativity, start honing the budget and offer recommendations to better tailor the design to your needs.
- Estimate & Contract
After plans are drawn up and a design is finalized a more comprehensive estimate is put together as to the forecasted costs of the project. When approved, this is followed by signing a construction agreement and securing a scheduling deposit.
- Construction Phase
Our service includes applying for the necessary permits and documentation on the owners’ behalf. Once construction starts, and throughout the renovation project the site (your home/yard/office/space) will be kept broom clean and free of hazards. You are able to see all the various stages of construction in progress with site visits with proper notice and daily photos of progress.
- Selections
The importance of making selections in a timely manner is paramount in keeping the project schedule and meeting the various milestones. On larger projects working with an interior designer will make this process easier. The budget is also reviewed at each milestone so you the owner may be kept aware of where savings have been captured and possibly overages.
- Hand Off
After construction is completed, we will walk you through the home explaining how new systems work. And as with all our projects a warranty against defects extends from the manufacturers of the materials and products we use as well as our craftsmanship and that of our subtrades.
- Feedback
The last piece of each project is a request for feedback, both positive (where we excelled) and negative (what you felt we may improve on in the future). This piece is ongoing and often neglected by those in the industry that feel they have seen and done it all. We don’t want to ever be satisfied with our finest results as we feel there could always be room for improvement.
